I had a ZS on my 79 Midget with all sorts of problems. Found that I could put an SU-4 carb on it rather than dual SU's, Thanks to blkcorair, AKA Scott Clareal, and his advice, I put an SU HIF4 on my stock 1500 with a few mods and some messing around (some stupid mistakes) and my car ROCKS!!!! Do not go with a down draft Weber until you try a SU HIF4!!! The carb I used was stock and rebuilt by me.

Thanks Scott!!!!

I went from webber to dual Su's. An unbelievable difference. really woke the car up.

do tell the mods please - we have about 3 threads going on this and I am very interested in this conversion. Abarth Mark is to be looking for me. So, maddy, if you could explain and Mark, you could watch, this could work.

did I mention this board rocks!

Ahhh, a pair of SUs and make her really sing.

All I did was elongate the holes of the SU HIF4 to fit the stock manifold, put a port in as explained by Hap for vacuum advance, and used the throttle linkage for the ZS carb. Made a new bracket on the manifold for throttle cable and spring. Hooked up the fuel, vacuum advance and breather to the valve cover. Got rid of all the smog equipment.

wait are we modifying the two SU or going to one per cylener??
i have a de smogged engine

curious
