That was what most of us Brits said when somebody shoehorned a Ford V8 into a classic British sports car, the AC Ace, but the result was the original Cobra, which was about as cool as you can get.

I personally think anything goes. At least the car isn't rusted away or gone to the crusher. I confess I would not care to own it, but whatever floats your boat...
 
There was a nice blue with white stripes midget in my town (Lincoln, NE) that looked like the car in the 2nd picture, had a mazda rotary in it, the Mazda is supposed to be similar in weight to the stock A series, my brother looked into a similar conversion, but he had a nice rust free car and didn't want to slice the car up to make it fit.
