Midget Flashers...

I mean for the lights! As I understand, there are two flashers on my 70 - one for the hazard lamps, the other for the turn signals. What I do not understand is why it looks like the one for the turn signals feeds into the one for the hazard lights. I am trying to figure out if both need replaced... any suggestions how to troubleshoot? Are these something that can be replaced at my local auto parts store or are these special order from MOSS?

Thanks
Tony

Your local parts place has ones that will work.

Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but if you have an electrical tester, you can just see if current is coming through the socket with the switch thrown for the hazards and with the turn signal activated.

If you have current but the bulb doesn't work, it's the bulb, if you don't have current you'll need to break out the wiring diagram and start testing from the fuse box back until you find the faulty switch or connector (current going in but not out)

spridget-tech.com has all the diagrams..

I am pretty sure that there is an in-line fuse (there is on my car) for the 4-way flashers down behind the console. Might want to make sure that if there is one on your's that it is good.

Well worth the $6 to go ahead and buy new flashers. You can just get the generic 2 prong and 3 prong flashers. Once you do that, you can hook up a multimeter or test light to the circuits and see if either the light flashes or needle goes back and fourth on the multimeter. The brown wire(at least it's brown on my 68) of the 4 way flasher setup has an in-line fuse, as mentioned above. A variety pack of british car fuses at advaced auto was like $3. Good to keep on hand. Has the big ones for the main fuses and smaller for the in-line.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but to answer your question about why the hazard circuit would be connected to the flasher circuit, I would think that this is because the turn signals all blink when hazards are turned on also.

best of luck!!

where exactly is the turn signal flasher unit? I found the hazard one.

I think on the later cars it is in the engine compartment close to where the wiring harness comes through the firewall.
