I have a '74 midget, but it has a 1500 engine in it. Is there any info on the internet to help me figure out which year the engine it is? Can you direct me to any websites out there? The engine id number is FP17095UCE.

thanks,
Jason

Jason, all I can tell from the number is that it's a mid production, California emissions engine. My guess would be a late '75 or a '76.
You may want to try Paul Tegler's site for any information he may have.

You may try contacting Paul directly, and see if he has any number information. Or, maybe someone here can be of more help than me. I'm an 'A' series guy myself.

FP 6458 was produced in March 1975. The production rate was about 1500 per month, so October 1975 would be a good guess for your engine.

does anybody else have something a little bit more exact? Is there any websites out there to help confirm what year the engine is?

Isn't there a cast in mark on the block that shows when the block was cast?

Yep, down under the exhaust manifold.

It should be in a small circle with the dates listed almost like pizza slices. Mmmm, pizza /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

anybody have any additional info on helping me figure out what year the engine is in my mg midget? since the engine that is in there is not what originally came with the '74 midget
