General MG Midget clutch bleed - engine out

So the engine is out of my 79 midget. I replaced the clutch plate and the clutch cylinder. I have the Eezibleed kit. Knowing that the clutch is very difficult to bleed and to access once the engine has been replaced, can I bleed the clutch before replacing the engine? How can I simulate the pedal action or is this even necessary? Any hints? Thanks.

I think not.

For sure you can't if the transmission and engine are out together.

If the transmission is still in the car, I think <think> that pumping the pedal will force the end out of the slave cylinder. Obviously you can hold the plunger in place, but, I think it will be a PITA to then get it "unattached" and inserted into the bell housing.

It is not that hard to bleed a 1500 - but it is awkward because the clutch hose curves higher than the Master Cylinder. Last time I did mine I had my wife pour brake fluid through while I used the mityvac from under the car. Most times however, I undo the Master, hold it higher than the hose and just pump it up by hand (I wear gloves and put a screwdriver through the hole in the piston. Takes minutes and you're good to go.

BTW, welcome! and, you probably want to actually post in the Spridget (Sprite + Midget) forum. These MGB guys are very friendly but a little on the large side if you get my meaning. :p
