I'd like to introduce myself, as well as my MG Midget.

Both myself and the car are now called Middie, because the missus reckons it must be a mid-life crisis. Just been a long time coming.

I have just finished restoring a 1981 Moke Californian (full body strip and repaint) so decided I'd like a bit more of a challenge.

The Moke Forum here in Australia carried me through that restoration, and I'm hoping for the same nice friendly advice here.

So for the challenge . . . I bought a 197??? MG Midget which has very little bits of "real metal" in it. The rust is a lovely colour, and I'm sure would do wonders for air-conditioning on a hot day.

No motor, no gearbox, no drive train, no radiator. But lovely wire spoke wheels

I live on the Central Coast of NSW Australia, about 90 klms north of Sydney. I'm retiring soon, so this will give me something to fill in the time :thirsty:

I haven't got a clue about how to go about this project, so will be calling on lots of help from the forum. Please treat me gently.

Middie/Wazza/Wiz/Warren (call me what you will)

Good luck on your project...I have a few myself. I'm currently collecting parts and building a 57 A coupe..have a few Bs and drive a 69 MGC-GT. Most were bought as basket cases..just takes time, patience...and a little??? money.

Hello, Middie/Wazza/Wiz/Warren!

You do know that you've opened Pandora's box with that "request", don't you?

Seriously, this is a great resource for info, camaraderie, and commiseration about all things LBC-ish. Welcome to you!

Mickey

Likely quite close if 'e's just 90 kliks north of Sidney. Car coulda spent its "formative years" closer. Cessnock? Singleton? Newcastle?

WELCOME!!

 Well shucks man, some retirees simply do jigsaw puzzles. Having said that, Welcome and you will now become an official LBC (little British car) nut.

Welcome, come on in and join the spridget forum.

Pat

Hi, Warren, and welcome to the Forum! Sounds like you've got yourself quite a project there! You've come to the right place!

Hello Warren,

"Welcome" to the "BCF" from NE PA. I know your going to get a ton of assistance for your "New/Old" midget.

There`s a gent in Australia by the name of "Ray English" who is a Historian on Midgets.

Check out my post on "How many MKIs are left" and read all about him. Great Guy!!

Enjoy & Post some pics of your car. We would like to see that "Rustic" paint job you have.

Regards, Russ

Hey guys . . . thanks very much for the welcome. I hope I didn't seem a bit rude not answering sooner, but I just found the post again.

I'm still finding my way around the forum, so didn't really know where to look.

I do live quite close to the coast, in fact I can see the water out of my front window. I live about 45 minutes drive from Newcastle, and my missus is a Newcastle gal.

I'll be getting some pictures of Middie the MG and working out how to post on the forum for your "viewing pleasure". The usual comment is "how the bloody heck are you going to fix that :wall:

I'm going to learn how to weld, then build my own rotisserie so I can swing Middie around - all the better to get to her hidden bits.

Now for that Pandora's Box. Seeing I have no motor, clutch, gearbox or any drivetrain, what is the best way to go? Can't find a 1275 motor for love or money around Australia, but I've heard that some motors will drop straight into the body without too much trouble.

Can you point me in the right direction so I can at least get her up and running while waiting for an original S motor?

Thanks

Yep - hop over to the Spridget Forum and post the above question. Plenty of folks there who will answer any and all questions for you.

Mickey

I'd have thought 1275's would be litterin' the countryside there!

And by all means get into the Spridget Forum and start postin'!!

Would you be able to afford shipping from N.Z.? I *may* have a contact there who could do some diggin' about.

Thanks Mate - I'll hop straight across and see what happens. At the moment I'd swim from NZ to Australia with the motor strapped to my back

Wiz

Hold on!! It's a south island contact!
