Anyone else get a message from Microsoft about there server software? Wonder why their pushing their server software? Push a button, download it for free, try it out! What's this all about? Business's yes, average person, who needs it? PJ

Paul - how are you getting this message? email? screen pop-up? etc. What are the exact words?

A screen capture would help.

They are probably pushing it because their"XP" is being phased out and it is in broad use in the business world.

Email Tom. Not sure why they targeted me, I have no use for it. Could have been a glitch in the system, but Microsoft never has glitches in their systems, do they! :highly_amused: PJ

The system is called, Microsoft Cloud and is supposed to be extremely fast!

Are you sure it is "really" from Microsoft and not a spoofed email?

Hmmm, Might be Basil, but it did look official. I ran a check on it on Microsoft's site and that's where it was called Cloud and mentioned it was super fast and for office use! PJ

Spoofing emails usually are made to look very official. If you know the link is a MS link, you can copy and post the link you see in your bowser - don't click the links as it could be something other than what it looks like, click this link:

Just saw Microsoft's ad on TV for their Microsoft Cloud. Never saw them advertise on TV before, but I'm sure they have. PJ

Oh, yeah, all the freaking time. Anything they can do to push the mess that Gates8 is on the unsuspecting public.
Cloud?
What happens when you store ALL your stuff there, the NSA figures out how to get to it, or it gets hacked.
Push folks out of something that works (XP) into something that is still questionable.

Jump right in to the trap. Fall in, it's safe. Nobody is going to access your stuff, even if the Feds offer us "incentives" to do so.

Horse Manure.

I personally want nothing to do with it. I store all my data on a separate external hard drive or sticks. I was curious why I got this ad through my email. Not for me. PJ

Paul - if you've ever bought or downloaded a product from MicroSoft, you probably registered and/or gave them your email address.

So if the email is *really* from MicroSoft, that's how they got your address.

Tom

Yeah Tom, didn't really think about it, but your right, nothing is secret on the net and everyone's there to grab your info. That's why I store everything on an external hard drive and sticks. PJ
