microcontrollers and LBCs

I program microcontrollers by profession and have some ideas for microcontroller based automotive projects. Cars are one of the nastiest environments for electronics and our cars may be a worst case. I've seen lot's of generality's about power supply filtering but have not been able to find a schematic for a supply that would be adequate for a sensitive electronics running from an auto electrical system. My own efforts so far give me a much improved noise level but still not what I am comfortable with. Have any of you done this successfully on LBCs? RC filter or LC? Component values?
