miata top

a friend has a Miata that needs a new top, and all the local shops want your first born to do the job. I can get a Robbins top from Moss pretty reasonably, but have never installed one on a miata. I have replaced a top on a B, with no problems. Has anybody ever done this and how hard is it?

With the miata, you'll also need a new drip rail, as the old one both rusts, and get's messed up when you remove the top. Other than that... just slightly harder than the MGB top... you'll have to glue it at more places, and possible deal with asjustment of the tensioning cable allong each side. The rear part bolts on (and glues I think too).

I'd take it on... shouldn't be too hard to figure out, and if you search around on the net, you should find a comlete set of instructions. Good luck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

As with anything, I think it just takes time, patience, a little glue, some hand tools, and some additional patience.

I can't imagine it's that hard. Of course, my Miata is at my friend's place so I can't run out and look at all the little parts.
