I've ordered a set of Miata racing seats, They are 22 in. wide. The stock Midget(1979) seats are 20 in. wide. Anyone see a install problem here ?
Thanks
Don M
OK heres the deal on Mazda Miata racing seats MX-5. No these seats do not fit the MG mIdget. They are too wide especially the seat back. The 22 in wide seat hits the emergency brake handle and its impossible to let it down.Finding the holes in the floor pan all but impossible with the seat in. Can't close door because seat backs are too wide these are racing seats and I imagine stock seats must be the same. I know some guys have installed these seats in their Midgets but don't know how they possibly did it. I tried everything you can think of to get them to fit and its a no-go..I have a 79 MG. Maybe earlier years would fit but donno. So hold your breath if you decide to order these for your Midget. NOT RECOMMENDED...

Real Miata Seat fit. Not those one size fits all. Those same seat are advertised for multiple cars as a one size fits all item. Time to start looking at junkyards or post a note on the local Miata Club bulletin board. There were a few sets priced too much on e-Bay last night and loads of those "Miata Racing Seats". A set or two under Miata Net Classifieds. They are around just need to be resourceful. https://www.miata.net/cgi-bin/isc/classifieds.cgi
