A former student, and now good friend, is conducting research in the University of Illinois Center for Recovery and Identification of the Missing (CRIM).

About CRIM | CRIM | University of Illinois Chicago (uic.edu)

I've attached a CRIM poster showing various facets of their work in identifying a/c crash sites, and recovering remains, primarily of WW2, Korea, and VietNam era a/c and crew.

I friend of mine in high school wrote a book called Open Doors. It's about some survivors of Vietnam that were POWs. That might contain a list of people to interview for information. The book is also linked to an exhibit on the USS Coronado in San Diego until Sept 15th.
