T-Series MGTD/TF Carbon Release Bearing Question

While putting in the ne 5 speed kit I decided to put in a new pressure plate and release bearing. To my surprise the replacement release bearing form Moss is the original carbon type and that is all they have.

I am not familiar with the carbon type life expectancy and I was wondering if anyone knows of a real bearing type replacement or is the carbon type all I can get?

Unless you are running alot of parades the carbon bearing will go 100,000 miles. I think Scarboro Faire has a roller release bearing but why mess with a part that does work good. For what its worth i purchased one years ago and it had a plastic housing for the bearing. I was always nervous about it. I sold the car before i could get a good feedback on the part. Also Scarboro Fair has gotten their last dollar out of me. I will do without before buying anything there again. Good luck which ever way you go on this. Bob

I agree with Bob. I replaced my graphite bearing shortly after I purchased my TF in 1978 and did not touch it again until the current 2 1/2 year restoration. JimG.

OK, carbon bearing it is, installed it today.

Thanks,
