Roy - Sounds like a misaligned or excessively worn throw out bearing. I would suggest that you post your query to the T-ABC site https://www.mg-tabc.org/ , the TC Motoring Guild https://www.tcmotoringguild.org/ and/or The MGCC T Register https://www.tregister.org/ where you will be reaching a vastly greater number of TC owners who would have a better idea of the noises that TC make.
