Website is up - wonder how many of us can make this one?

I'm there, already have my hotel reservations! Glenstone Lodge.

What's the deal with making reservations through the website ONLY?

Mickey

Yea, I wondered too. Because I was thinking I could snag a better rate than what they offered for the show. You know, that AARP discount MY HUSBAND gets, or something. I did check around several other hotels other than the ones listed, are some cheaper, in the $60-80 range, but I decided I wanted to stay where everyone else was staying and close to the activities. We may go down a day early and do a little sightseeing (I haven't been to the Gatlinburg area since I was a teenager) and drive the Tail of the Dragon!

So, did you get the reservations at the Glenstone through the website?

I did. Because when I called Glenstone directly, they told me they didn't have any rooms available for those dates.

~shrugs~ I don't know how many rooms they've blocked off for the show, but certainly not every room in the hotel. Honestly, I just got tired of messing with it, and talked to one of the wives in our club. They'd booked at Glenstone and I just booked it.

I toyed with using our timeshare and trading a week for a week at a condo down there, but I didn't want to be out in the 'boonies' away from everyone and every thing.

Is this open at any British car?

Bruce

Although it's for MG's, I'm sure any would be welcome. I saw some other marques at the Vintage Triumph Register national meet this summer. East Tennessee is a great place for a drive!

The Twist get-together in Grand Rapids was an 'MG' thing, but there were other cars there as well.

So, is there a markup on rooms to help defray the cost of putting on the show?

I doubt there's a markup, I imagine they have offered some sort of discount because of the volume of rooms needed. But in the past, I've found sometimes I can book rooms on my own at a better rate. Didn't have that opportunity this year because the hotels I called (on the list) told me they didn't have rooms available. I imagine you could go outside the list of hotels and find something, but I just went ahead and booked at Glenstone.

Added to note, just checked the website for Glenstone Lodge and they show no availability on the dates in June. I would suggest booking rooms SOONER than later. Robert Rushing (editor MG Driver) said at our meeting Monday night that they have a projected registration of 1000 cars at the rate things are going. Already over 400 registered, 7 months before the event.

& a few days prior to MG2006 is the British V8 Show in Townsend, TN! What a week!

Heya Bazul...could we maybe get a sticky up on MG forum or here where everyone going to MG2006 could sign in and list where they're staying? Would be nice to keep a running tally how many people from BCF are going to be there. Not a chat thread, just a 'list?'

How close is that to the 'sponsor' hotels? We're at Glenstone Lodge for $90 a night I think.
