MG's and pets - driving miss Doggie? Post Pics!

This started in another thread, Ray posted a picture with his Boxer in an LBC and I thought it would make for a fun thread.

I'll start it out, I have two Boxers and today I went out & found them a pair of Doggles to wear.
It's funny but my big boy Thatcher doesn't mind wearing the Doggles at all as long as he is in the car, but hates them when he is out!

What do you use to get the slobber off the side of the car?

Yes, I've found that a hand towel is required equipment.
I hardly ever leave home without a towel anyway - just in case!
I am a student of Douglass Adams after all.
You know, I'll bet that's where the whole towel thing started up, He was a Brit and he must have owned or at least was passenger in an LBC and from there found that a good towel was an indispensable tool and that one must always know where one's towel was etc...

 for towels.

Thanks Steve, I just sent one.

Ray, that is absolutely priceless.

....Ya owe me a keyboard, by th' way. :jester:

Nice Ray, they are a bit hammy aren't they?

Here's our little girl Boxer: Tuppence.
She had to have a ride too after old obnoxious Thatcher got to go.
(now he feels left out because he doesn't remember going first)

Great photos all!!!

I take Max for a ride EVERY day, sometimes by the doggie park and downtown, BUT the best ones are out in the country, just him and me. I know it's a good thing because usually, maybe 3-4 miles into the 10 mile loop, Max leans over and gives me a big lick on the elbow. He lives for this...as do I.

Max is eight and Boxers are not known for their longevity, so we make the most of every day. I've been getting ready for Spridget 50 in Missouri for the last week; it's too long a ride for Max and he doesn't like being shut up in a hotel room, so he's going to stay with my ex-wife. Friday I had him to the vet after he displayed pain in his hind quarters; he's had several tumors removed in the past. Turned out to be a strained ACL and will be fine with a little rest and medication. He's about the only reason I would have cancelled the trip...now I don't have to

OK, not an MG.....but hey, I *am* an MG owner (B and Midget).

And there might be an MG in the background somewhere...

This was taken when I was racing the Spridget at the New Hampshire Vintage earlier this year.

There were some great vintage cars, but also come great vintage motorcycle and some (like this) with sidecars.

The guy was going super slow and the dog was wagging his tail.

Cat walks dog, news at 11!

Couldn't figure out how to have the images show in the posting. Let me know what I did wrong. Thanks.

In the mid-1970's I was a student at the University of
Florida. One of my roommates had a huge doberman that
loved to take Sunday drives in my MGA. This was a trained
attack dog, but in the MGA, he'd sit quietly in the
seat with his head over the top of the windshield, staring
at people in cars and jogging by. Met quite a few ladies this
way. Wish I had pics!

Dobermans are greatly misunderstood dogs. Highly intelligent, highly affectionate and extremely loyal. Yes, they make excellent guard/attack dogs, in large part because of their intelligence. They love to "work" and are very attentive to their "jobs". I have had 3 Dobermans, all of them rescues, and they were amazing! Two of them were certified therapy dogs, would go to hospitals, nursing homes and rehab centers to work with the patients and clients in their recoveries. Dobermans are also BIG babies and couch potatoes and would rather sit in your car all day while you are at work than to spend a moment home alone without you. Our third Doberman weighed 95 lbs and was terrified by thunderstorms. If there was a storm, he would crawl under the nightstand next to the bed and shake so much that the whole nightstand would lift off the ground and rattle! Wonderful, wonderful dogs and we miss ours very much.

And Steve, congrats on the large collection and the STILL married thing!
