There is a gentleman in our club, who has one. From what I understand he brought the car over as parts and assemble it here. It understand it is titled as a home built. I am new to the club and don't know his name, just saw the car at a gathering last weekend. I will try to attach photos. Jeff

I wonder what constitutes parts? Engine out of car is enough?

There were some left hangers - I tried to buy a wrecked one in Germany with same thought in mind - fly over, disassemble it & ship as parts - but somebody else beat me out...

Thanks, Jeff....I want to talk with him.

boy... they didn't change much on the body of that car... but at the same time they changed quite a bit to give it a face lift for the V8 .... would be a nice car to have ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

what I meant by the above post is: I initially thought you could just send the engine to the US and make your own. But after seeing the body on the car there ain't no way! You'd have to do like everyone else has been talking... ship one over in some manner....

While it's unmistakeably a B styled car, there's just way too many differences to do what I thought you could do... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

still a hawt car though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

There was an RV8 at Grand Rapids last summer, sweet.

Why does the windscreen frame look triumph-ish?

Bruce, my daughter who got her LLM in International Law from the University of Kent at Canterbury, told me that a body separated from its drivetrain is parts....& a drivetrain in a separate container is also parts....& its better if there's no VIN attached to anything....& even better if it was sold on various bills of sale as "parts"

...once assembled, its pretty easy to get a new VIN & then license it as a kit car or homemade vehicle....however, then its not an RV8!
....& an RV8 with its original VIN & title can't be insured in the US as it was never an insurable line item in the US - whatever that means...guess the insurance guys can explain that.

Should be. That's how Superformance imports thier Cobras as "kit"cars. All ya gotta do is power 'em up.
ya oughta be able to pull the same thing with an RV8

MGB vin tag. Does it have to be an RV8 to the state?

Kit car is a better choice I think and that is definately pushing it. The gub'ment seems to get a little uptight about falsifying vin plates.
