I bought 4 new chrome wires from Moss. 60 spoke 4.5 inches. New wires get new tires! Could someone tell me what is the best tire size for profile, ride, handling and looks on a 4.5 inch wheel? 165s are what's on the old wires now and look and handle nice but I have been told that they are getting hard to find. Any input on this?

We just put 4 new tires on The B and I'm sure they're 165's. If she were here, I'd go look. These are Goodyear tires.

A 4.5-inch rim will do well with a 165. You can go down to 155 if you care about originality, or up to 175 if you want more rubber on the road. Some people have run 185/70 on 4.5 rims but that's starting to push the limits and you will get a lot of sidewall flex.

Try British Wire Wheel for some tire options.

We have a vendor here on the boards too, Tirerack you might want to check.

Thanks for the info. guys on the tires. Has anyone heard of a Vredestein tire? I found a dealer not far from home who is supposed to have 165s. I think thier made in Holland. I'm also checking with a local Goodyear dealer. I like the 165s.

For what it's worth, I'm getting my car fit with 185/65 tires today on Rostyle wheels. Should be close enough to the original diameter to avoid a large margine of error with the speedometer. The car really really needs new tires; the current tires were so out of round that it feels like a "magic fingers" bed gone bad on the freeway... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
