Hi, as I have written I previs post my MGB 1975 is consuming quite a lot of oil. The compression is good, so then I suspect bad valve steam seals. I have read a bit and some people say that only new valve steam seals will not make a great impact on oil consumption. Should I replace anything else, valve guides, srpins?

The oil rings are probably the culprit being worn down a bit. I would replace all the rings with new and new valve stem seals. I know it requires a tear down but it can be done in the car with the head and sump removed. I don't remember if the mains have to be dropped on an 1800 for crank clearance, others will chime in.
