MGB MGB transmission info needed

My Elva Courier originally had an MGA transmission and I am almost finished with the installation of an MGB four synchro transmission to replace it. I have some questions I hope I can get answered:

1. The (non-overdrive) transmission came out of a car with an 1800 cc 5-main engine. The gear shift knob that came with it has an OD switch and I would like to replace it with a simple black knob, preferably one with the shift pattern engraved. I think the non-OD knob (Moss pn 021-399) fits this description but will it fit onto the threads of the OD shift lever?

2. The side fill and bottom drain plugs use pipe plugs but they are not NPT thread--does anyone know what thread was used?

3. There is no dip stick hole on the transmission nor any reinforced boss casting that would accomodate one. I have never seen an MG transmission without a dipstick and the Moss parts catalogue drawing shows that there should be one. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

I don't know this for sure, but I would guess that the threads are British Standard Pipe thread (parallel threads rather than tapered).
Cheers,

The side fill transmission does not have a dipstick and the speedo output is 1000 tpm. Your transmission is from a 75 through 80 mgb
