After looking at aeronca's MG2008 pictures with lots of MGB's towing trailers, including a picture of one towing a small travel trailer camper, I now have to ask the question... How much can an MGB tow before it's no longer pulling, but being pushed? Could I tow my boat with it? a pop-up camper?
Oh, and I love the half-MGB utility trailers that double as seating.
I towed my MGA race car for several years with a 2 litre Cortina - I just didn't stop on steep hills where I would have burned out the clutch trying to start and I watched a long way ahead in case I needed to stop.
An MGA or MGB in good shape (i.e the bloody brakes are perfect and you aren't one of those idiots that hold themselves on a hill by slipping the clutch) should be able to tow up to about 1000 lbs.
An MGC can do considerably more. I knew of one that was used to tow an MGA race car on trailer - probably 3000 lbs. (it would have needed trailer brakes of course).
Towing with an MG takes some careful assessment of tongue weight or you will find yourself waving at others on the interstate - with the trailer!
