OK, this is probably a dumb question.....My last B was equipped with the stow-in-trunk type top and frame. My current '78 has the folding type. When I bought it the seller installed a new top prior to delivery. I notice that the rearmost bow in the top will either be to close to the one ahead of it or it can fall back to the window. There is a double strip of fabric running from side to side in the position that I feel the bow should properly occupy, but it simply hangs loose and it looks as if I should place the bow in between the strips and sew it in. Is this correct or am I missing something here?

Cheers,
Mike

Yes, the bow is designed to be retained by those two strips of fabric.

If you really want to take the time to sew it in, you can...you can also glue the strips together (NOT to the bow, though...it needs to be able to "slide" inthe retainer!)...that's what I've done in the past and it works fine.

Thanks, Rick. What type glue did you use?

I used contact adhesive...sticks to itself. I would imagine anything designed for fabric (and that will remain adhesive without dripping under heat conditions) would work. Gorilla Snot (glue) may even work.

To make it more "appealing" to the eye, I wrapped the forward flap over the aft flap to make the seam less noticable in the cockpit.

I use regular old 3M upholstery glue.

Weldwood Contact Adhesive. And only apply it to an inch of each "flap". You only get ONE shot at placing it when the contact is made!
