MGB mgb stuff

Yesterday I had a couple of my VW customers come to my shop and spend three hours helping me clean out stuff that had been piled in one of the big rooms(about 20x50 ft.) anyhow, we boxed up thousands of parts, the majority of them being MGB parts. One of the guys came up to me and handed me a heater assy. and asked me where I wanted it. Its out of a very early B and being I need a heater for my A coupe, out of curiosity I walked over popped the hood of the A and it fit perfectly?? all eight screw holes lined up, the wires were right and has two hose outlets...anyone have any input??

Jack,

Although the heater mount is the same with the A and the B, the rest of the heater, as assembled, is different. The fan motor on the A is mounted on the back while on the front side in the B. There is a air hose attachment on the A that resides where the motor mounts on the B....ad infinitum...

Suffice it to say that you may be able to use the housing and shift everything around but I have not looked at doing that soooo... someone else on the forum may be able to advise you if it is possible....

You might go to Moss or VB's on line catalog and compare the diagrams of the heater units to see what else may be different...

After staring at it for a while and looking at pics of one that went for a small fortune on E-Bay....I see the differences. I guess this would work if I could find a trashed A heater and use the motor and inlet...or maybe I'll just spring for a new one. Parts have started rolling in for the coupe, yesterday when I got home my wife was dragging parts off the porch into the house. I told her they must be some of her Christmas gifts. She said they sure looked like car parts...I uncovered a box with a bunch of A roadster parts...maybe I could get someone to trade or whatever.

Jack,

I bought a heater fan for a pre-68 on Ebay for $10 by mistake...make me an offer to cover the shipping if you want it ;-)

Great...whatever you feel is fair and I'll send you my address and a money order..check..paypal....I'm getting quite a pile of parts and have made a spot for the process of disassembly to begin. cell is 505-693-8810.

Moss probably has parts for the barn, but they'll be of shoddy quality and won't fit without "fettling". We have some good used barn lumber at our shop, though!

CB3,

Thanks for the comment.... yeah the barn has been a problem and finding quality parts has been a real challenge... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Fellow wackos? Gee Ron, I thought that we were the sane ones.

Oh well, You know what they say, it's a fine line between sanity and the loony bin. Sometimes I wonder about what side of the line I'm on. With me and airplanes, love of British cars and racing, please don't ask my wife, she'll tell you in a hurry! Hehe!

Paul,

Let me define 'whacko'

Main Entry: 2wacko
Variant(s): also whacko
Function: noun
Date: 1976

1)a person who is wacky; also : psycho

2) A person who will voluntarily drive a very small, usually roadster, classic British sports automobile (AKA: LBC) on modern freeways with their posterior inches from the pavement being eye to eye with the bottom lugnuts of a semi-truck traveling at 70 miles per hour.

3)a person who will look in the rear view mirror of said classic car and only see UNDER the semi-truck behind them.

4) Someone who will be smiling and enjoying themselves in spite of conditions listed above....

Sooo, Paul,

Quote:] it's a fine line between sanity and the loony bin [/QUOTE].

based upon the definition and your comment above... where do you think we fit???

Personally I think that most of us qualify for clinical whacko-ness... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
