Hi guys.

Been doin a bit of Ebay'ing lately, im new to it, only just started using it last week
Got a bottom end gasket set for my 5 brg engine /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
and waiting on a pair of new engine mounts. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

hehe, picked up a MG keychain for 1c US (i was the only one that bid), too bad it costs like 7 odd bucks for postage. $10AU all up

Ne ways, has anyone ever put in XENON light bulbs in the headlights of a B? Is it possible to find a light that will fit?
somethin like this.
XENON RICE LIGHTS

All the best guys,
Jarrod

Ugh.

Jarrod,

I'm sure you could make it work, just remember you harness wasn't desinged to handle the kind of amperage needed by bulbs like those. Scary, but all the power for your headlights goes through the switch on your dash and that circuit is unfused except for the bulbs themselves. If you decided to do it, make sure you have a good alternator and go with some type of relay system to divert the power away from the switch. Another idea is to use Sylvania Silver Star sealed beams. You can get them pretty cheaply in the US at most autoparts stores, I'm not sure about Aus. But I got a noticable improvement in light, especially, when I upgrated my alternator to a bosch unit. This link doesn't show the 7" round but they are available. A nice white light.

I don't what the authorities are like in Down Under regarding roadworthy but in mainland Europe you wouldn't be allowed to put Xenon lights in without haveing to redo the reflector, glass etc. In SA nobody would bother.

It may make the lights bluish, but it will not give performance like HID lights.

Jarrod, mate. Don't turn your MG into a riceburner. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Jarrod, there are a number of companies that sell H4 conversion headlamp reflectors. Personally, I wouldn't go with the blue, but I upgraded mine to a 100w headlight. Makes a huge difference in the lighting.. Of course, I also incorporated a headlight relay system ( don't use the one that Victoria British sells, it's a generic fit and uses non-standard relays)

There are a bunch of plastic reflectors, but Hella, Moss, and VB all sell high quality glass reflectors( 7") to replace your sealed beams.

Buy 2 bosch 30A relays, 2 headlight plugs, two inline fuse holders and some 10 Gauge wire to connect it all. I opened my harness and took the main headlight wires that run to the front, and used the wires that go through the switch to use as the trigger for the relays. I took power directly off the starter solenoid( always hot) and then put fuses, then relay switched power. From the relays, I went to one headlight, then ran the lines across to the other headlight.

It's all connected with weathertite connectors and wrapped in harness tape.

All in all, it took an afternoon, including trips to the hardware store.

YOu could put the relays in with the current headlights, and it would benefit your B to just put the relays in.

Cheers
