My feet and the driver's side rug has been getting damp the last few weeks, so I ordered a new master cylinder. The brown truck dropped it off the other day and I'm installing it today. Right now, I'm tired (too much bending!) so I'm taking a break. I have to say, the "replica" cylinder does look good. Made in China, so hope it works OK. We'll see.......

Since you have to take out the cylinder/pedal mount anyway, I bought a rebuild kit for the clutch cylinder too. It's not leaking right now, but it was pretty ugly inside so I'm glad I'm doing it.

The cylinder/pedal mount area was filled with acorns....gee, thanks, squirrels! :madder:

So I've cleaned up the entire area and brushed on some touch-up paint. Removed the pedals and painted/greased them too. I *should* pull the engine and all the wires and hydraulics and do a real nice job on the engine bay.....but this thing is a <span style="font-style: italic">driver</span>, not a show car.

The brakes have been a teeny bit soft, so I hope this job takes care of that.
 
About every time I start a small project it gets out of hand. Now get that engine out! You know you really want to.....Bob

All this conversation puts me to mind of Morgans - do they grow their own acorns?
 
If the wheel cylinders and calipers are of the same vintage as far as seals go you may find they could start leaking once full pressure is back on them. Just something to consider after awhile, just in case.

Um... betcha got some pretty active squirrels. I can't believe they'd get scooped up inside the engine compartment naturally :smile:
 
Car has new wheel cylinders and rebuilt calipers (last year).

And all 3 flex lines are new last year too.

Would still really love to pull the engine and do it up right, but I'd miss too much driving time.

The Miata sat for about a month last Fall (outside too)....that's probably when the squirrels did their thing. MGB sat all last Winter in a carport, so it probably got "nutted" then. :rolleyes:
 
Wanna borrow my blow gun? :smirk:

I went thru the brake MC deal a month back. AFTER I'd made the firewall all nice an' shiny. :madder:
