Anyone know where I can get a standard MGB headgasket?

And more importantly, standard size MGB rod bearings?

Moss is backordered on both these items and are unsure when they'll have them.
(I'm doing a valve job and general cleanup of the engine internals....I need the headgasket. The rod bearings are "might as wells". I'm doing rings and several other simple items too, but Moss has them)
 
NAPA will likely have bearings. They likely won't be Vandervell, but so? Clevite or suchlike.

Termites accessed my entire box (shoulda had 'em in plastic tubs, I ~know~) of spare gaskets, or I'd send ya one. Li'l bastages ATE a few hundred dollars' worth before I noticed. Alfa conversion sets, Lotus and MG too. Li'l buggers got good taste, huh? :wall: :madder:
 
Other thought: The FelPro head gaskets are an acceptable substitute for Payen. Any of the outfits you mention should be able to get one of those for ya. Good luck. And let us know if the FelPro is available thru 'em?

I have used the Fel-Pro gaskets, and they work very well. I also have used Federal Mogul bearings, and have had great success with them as well.

I have the numbers, in case you need them.

FelPro Head Gasket - 21183C
Federal Mogul Rod Bearings - 4-65385CP

OK, I just got the headgasket and bearings at AutoZone.
(If you are not familar with AutoZone, it is a big auto-parts franchise. To me it's sort of like the Wal-Mart of auto parts stores)

The headgasket was Fel-Pro (made in UK) and the rod bearings are Beck-Arnley (made in Australia). I also bought a new thermostat (made in Israel) and a fan belt (made in Korea).

Moss has already shipped the other stuff (piston rings, pan gasket, etc) and I should get them around Thursday. They had the headgasket and bearings on back order but I just cancelled them.

Last night I ground all the valves (I have a K.O. Lee tool grinder that works great for this) and I've cleaned up everything else pretty well.

I'm busy the rest of the week, but I hope I can get this thing reassembled early next week.
 
It's just a *bigger* 1275 Nial. It'll go like clockwork. :thumbsup:
