Go buy one, just tell her it "followed" you home.

My wife thinks LBCs are a general waste of money, but she tolerates mine gracefully. I consider myself lucky, some wives are far more difficult on this topic.

I'd venture to say that probably about half of the wives of LBC enthusiasts, if given the option, would opt for NOT having an LBC in the garage (this is based upon my personal observations over roughly 30 years of enjoying this hobby).

You gotta be good to your wife, but you can't let her control EVERYTHING. Some things in life are essential: to some of us, that includes LBCs.

Ahhhh.....somewhere along the line you've failed in following my prime directive about a successful marriage:

But,Tony, Jerri is one special lady.And I agree with you completely.We have no room for any more LBCs,so I won't know if my wife would like another. :rolleyes:

Yep, she's not even balking as I'm looking at a 1990 Mercedes 560SEC!

& I'm out of garage space so you know what that means! She didn't even balk as I laid out what I want to do with the next 'little' addition down the road. But, she did mention she would like to set a camper on her farm for us to use as a getaway while we're deciding what to do with the old hose....she'll get her camper!
 
John, a few constructive comments from one who ran one of these as their only car/daily driver for a while:

1. The MGBGT holds an enormous amount of groceries.

2. It's easy to drive.

3. Surprisingly good in snow.

4. Draft-proof.

5. A Labrador and two kids will fit. Just. (He was a BIG example of his breed).

6. The car will NOT depreciate!

7. Your kids' (or grandkids) "cool factor" goes up tremendously if their friends see them being delivered/picked up in one of these.

8. Properly maintained, they are stone reliable.

9. There is nothing to dislike about the GT!

I currently do not have any LBC, and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms!
 
We owned a red '67 for a while, it was a delight. Forced to sell it after only a few years of ownership.

Second best is an early roadster with a hard top.

I love driving my '67 GT & my '74-1/2 GT...so much visibility, quiet, peppy, just FUN!

Take her for a ride in one so she can decide for herself if she enjoys it or not. Unfortunately you can't force someone to like a car that doesn't appeal to them. If she really hates it then just give her a car of her own so she won't have to drive the GT.

I'm lucky that my wife loves my BGT even though she doesn't care that much for the B. But this is the girl who wants to sell her BMW to buy a Riley Elf rally car to drive daily, and a Model A pickup to haul flowers in. She already has a Model T truck but she wants to go on the freeway with her plants.

My wife is the opposite, she loves our 77"B" she even named it Molly. She just thinks that all British cars should be convertibles. The lady just can't seem to deal with the idea of a coupe. :smile:
 
My wife prefers convertibles as well (she owns two, one an MGA roadster) but she's never cared for the looks of the MGB. She does think the BGT is "cute" though, and adores driving it around.
 
We can't take the dog to the beach in the Midget and even though I have been seriously slacking on the restoration of her MGA, the fully wife approved hunt for a 'GT is on.
