A co-worker gave me a printout of a local Craigslist listing today, it was for a 1976 MGB transmisiion "in good shape" for $50. IIRC, overdrive became standard starting in 1975, right? If this is an OD box, will it fit in the 1974 MGB/GT I'm buying? I'll try to get a picture of the box tomorrow.

Should fit the GT without complaint!

Overdrive was NOT standard in the later cars. Probably only one out of five had it. But check on this gearbox anyway...You never know.

It'll have a great-giant LUMP of a device bolted up to the rear instead of a smooth taper, with a place to connect the wiring! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
