Hi All. Sorry but its me AGAIN sorry to be a pain.
Can anyone tell me the best and type of oil to use in my gear box and diff. Regards John /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
I use the recommended 20W50 weight in what ever flavor you like is for my 79B. I just use regular Castrol, I don't know the ups/downs of using synthetics. Anyone for synthetics?
The old rule of thumb is to use as "normal" an oil as you can if you have overdrive; the thought is synthetics will cause problems with the overdrive slipping at times (not sure if it's true - I always use Castrol 20w50).
What a response. Thank you all. I will use GTX 20/40 same as I have in the engine. What a forum we have here. Until next time Kind Regards To All John. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

I never heard that...I am running Durablend 50% synthetic in my tranny for two years and haven't had a problem. I guess I will change back to the same Castrol 20-50 that I put in the engine last year.
Gotta love this Forum! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
