You would want the L32 engine that came in 1993-1995 Camaros and Firebirds. 160 reliable BHP. When matching a transmission for it bear in mind that the T5 came with different mounts on GM than Mustangs, where they also used them.

Thanks. I have been looking for 3.4's from older models. This helps a ton.

Good morning. My next question is about the T5 transmission. I am seeing a lot of different models out there and don't want to buy something that is geared wrong or has the wrong bellhousing. From my research it looks like the T5 gearing for a V8 or even a large V6 is totally different than what was used in a 3.4L. Should I be looking for a T5 from a 3.4L, 2.8L and possibly even a 2.5L to better match gearing?

Gear ratios are important! With the MGB's rear end, you want the highest (lowest number) 5th gear. Look for one with .68 in fifth. Also, you want the "World Class" T5, as it has the beefed-up input shaft bearings. They're hard to find, but out there.

Plenty of info online - here's a good one to start you off: > BritishV8 Forum: T5 Gear Ratio with an MGB rear end <

I agree with what Mickey said - I have a 0.63 5th gear World Class T5 out of a Camaro/Firebird. The Ford T5s have a mount that is different.

See > Bill Spohn's 1957 MGA with Fiberfab Jamaican Kit-Car Body and GM 3.4L V6 <

for published articles on my particular conversion (ignore the fact that it looks different - it is an MGA underneath)

It is certainly different. For others, this is what a 1956 MGA with a Fiberfab Jamaican body looks like.

And this is what a GM 3.4 looks like (upper plenum modified to be in keeping)
