Hello everyone. Most here probably don't know me but I can usually be found lurking about on the Healey forum. Right now I have some MGB difficulties and I am hoping someone can help me. I have been working all winter on a chrome bumper conversion to a 1980 MGB. It turned into a total body reconstruction, hence the all winter thing. Now I am finished with paint etc, and took it off the jack stands for the first time in six months. Guess what? It won't start. I am sure I have all the connections I took apart back together right. I do not have a current electrical schmatic for the newer cars. The last schmatic I have is for a 1972. Can someone tell me how to trouble shoot and test the electronic ignition. I have no spark at the plugs, but the coil does get warm if I leave the ignition switch on, as I was testing other conponents. Thanks alot. Dave C.

What kind of electronic ignition? I hope it isn't the stock Lucas unit. Typically Lucas makes pretty good stuff. That unit... not so much.

Send me your email address and I'll send you the wiring schematic you need.

When testing try not to leave the ignition on for too long. It may not be an issue with your specific set up, up leaving the ignition on will burn out some units.

Good luck!
