Hi Guys,,
We have just newly formed the Kincardine Area British Car Club, KABCC for short. I know it should have been the Kincardine British Sports Car Club, KBSCC, but one guy has a Nash Metropolitan. Anyway one member just emailed this to all members and I did send a pdf file of MGB wiring diagrams. Can anybody help with the rest of the questions?
I am having some difficulties with the wiring on my 1971 MGB. After an unfortunate sequence of events last fall (don't ask questions - darkness and alcohol were involved) the battery was connected in reverse polarity. It ran for a short while, 5 minutes, but stopped.

I have had the alternator redone, and the starter motor and solenoid checked. All ok. However, one wire was burned off, that was connected to the starter solenoid. I repaired the wire, but I don't have a very good wiring diagram. I hooked it back up, connected a new battery, and promptly burned off the same wire. It is a white wire that connects to the same terminal on the solenoid that the main battery cable attaches to. There are actually two white wires that attach to that terminal directly (goodness knows where they connect at the other end), and a third wire that attaches to a male tab right below the terminal. There is also another male tab that apparently nothing attaches to.

So, here are my questions:
1. Do I have the correct connections at the solenoid?
2. Assuming I do, since it appeared the same as when I bought the car, is there anything else that I should check that could have been damaged last fall?
3. Does anyone have a manual that shows either the proper connections or a good, clear wiring diagram? Or would another MGB owner crawl under their car to check?

xsteamer, Your short may be coming from the alternator, reverseing the current gives then a problem. Wayne

Where is Kincardine relative to Toronto? I've definatly seen that Nash at a few shows, it's a beautiful car....I've always kinda secretly wanted one of those.
