MGB MGB Dash Temperature Control Knob

I need to replace the cable from the heater control to the control knob in the dash.

Does anyone know how to remove the knob from the dash so that I can hook up the cable? I can't get under the dash to hook this up.

Thanks.

What year?

If its the 73 to 76 turn the knob till you find the little hole in the knob and use a nail or the like to depress the spring and pull the knob off. May take a little work. Then take a deep well 5/8ths socket and remove the nut from the hearter control and that should allow you to remove the control from the dash. Once its out install the cable and reinstall. Or you can learn to work upside down backwards in a dark space. I've dont it both ways and the first way is much easier.

Stewart,

Thanks for your help! I did see the small hole in the knob.

Removing this is much easier than the alternative! (why they wouldn't install it the other way around I don't know... it would be relatively easy to change cabling)

Anyway, thanks again!

Take the opportunity to clean the facia behind the knob; the one that says 'Hot', 'Cold'. The difference will be dramatic at night with the lights on.
