MGB Mgb crankshaft end play shims

Need help again… 1977 mgb. Putting in new mains.. When I got to #3, the one that has the end play shims, I forgot which way they turn… One side is smooth and other side has oil draining groves in it… Which way does the smooth side go? I read it somewhere but can’t find it now. Tks
 
The surface with the "cutouts" is the babbitt, to ride against the crankshaft. The slots allow for oil to flow.
