I wish to install a 1972 overdrive transmission in a 1979. Is the tunnel wide enough to except the overdrive unit? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
Paul, first let me say "Welcome." You'll find a lot of aircraft nuts here as well as the LBC crowd.
As far as the O/D goes, it will fit. They used the same trans and O/D from '68 to '80.

The late overdrives only engaged in 4th geear while the earlier ones could engage in both 3rd and 4th. It will fit, just don't forget about your speedometer and driveshaft.
