I am doing some research for an article I am working on.

I have Road and Track who I usually trust more than most for these things with a 0-60 time for the twin cam of 9.9 seconds, Autocar's test was 13.3. You expect a second or so from test to test because of differences from car to car and testing techniques, but that is a big discrepency, anybody have any further info that might point to one or the other being in the right ballpark, horsepower and weight would suggest to me it could be a 10 second range 0-60 car (triumphs and AHs of similar power and weight are in the 10 second range, but they do have a lot more torque, then again the twin cam looks like it has a pretty tall rear end).

Also any idea of a good restored twin cam value? you rarley see them for sale.
 
I've seen Twinkies sell in the $50k to $60 range in the past couple of years.

This would be for a Condition 1 car.
 
Don't know about the performance stats, but the current values pricing is about where Rick indicates, above, and rising.

And, the reason why you don't see many is because they're rare as hen's teeth. There are a couple in my local club, one owner told me he had it insured for $60,000 (and it's perfect). They pop up on eBay sometimes.

Hard not to like MGAs, and when it's a Twin Cam, well, it's almost like a Rembrandt. :yesnod:
 
13.3 sounds more like the time for a 1600 than a Twin Cam. They were sub 10 second cars.
 
Autocar had a poorly tuned car and that test has haunted the cars ever since.

Road & Track results were representative of what you could do with a properly tuned car. That engine makes it a totally different animal, and the balanced braking with zero fade that the 4 wheel discs gave you was also a welcome addition.

If you think the stock Twin Cam was brisk with 108 BHP, my race car with upward of 170 is decidedly exciting! They are also a really nice engine to look at, much in the idiom of the Jaguar 6.

Never seen the engine in an"A" before. I always thought it just resembles most twin cams.
