Have a '56 MGA Roadster and just about done putting it all back together. The problem is that the tach doesn't work when connected. Is there a part that goes in the mechanical tach unit on the engine that the cable goes into? The cable doesn't look too bad...please let me know your thoughts.

spin the cable with a drill, then you'll know if the tach works...or the squared inside of the drive pinion may be wallowed out, pull it out and looky.
