MGA MGA Raodster -- body slightly torqued

MG Gurus of all ages....

I have FINALLY figured out why my doors do not line up correctly...

The TOP of the body shell is slightly torqued to the right... Let's see... how can I 'splain this.. with all of the body off - body on activity over the last four years the shell has been torqued slightly...

The frame is straight as an arrow... It appears that if I can torque the body shell just aft of the rear door pillars slightly to the right... all will be fine....

Keep in mind that this is a classic 'aw shoot'. The car is complete and on the road... minus a completed interior -- so it is a bit late in the game to take about pulling the body off again..

IF this makes any sense... anyone have a recommendation??

I can post a few pictures tomorrow if that will help...

Can you shim between the body & frame to make up the difference?

If I'm reading correctly you say your rear body section is not square? If you were to look at the rear body shape at the rear of the cockpit as a square is it now like this /_/ instead of I_I ? If so I can't understand how that would have happened even with the body off and on several times. If the body mountings fit the frame without any additional shims then I'd be a lot more concerned with the doors than the body. Most MGA doors stand proud of the body at the lower rear corner. They can be "adjusted" to fit better, but usually the lower corner will still be slightly away from the body. Photos would help.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the comments...

I will take a couple of pictures tonight and post them...

I will try to describe the symptom...

The lower rear corner of the right (passenger) door, when shut, is away from the frame while the left (driver's) door is aligned at the bottom but away from the pillar at the top when shut.

Soo... the doors sort of looks like '\I____I\' looking from the rear...

If I shim between the body and the frame then I should put the shims under or near the mounting between the frame and body under the right pillar??

Not to go down a rosey path.. the alignment may be the forward pillar with the resultant mis-alignment showing on the rear...

Other than the rear pillar to door alignment, everything looks fine as I look at the car from all angles..
