I just purchased a V8 Buick aluminum engine for a conversion I'm thinking of doing to a 79 B Roadster. The transmission that is coming with the engine is the original 2 speed auto. My question is "what is a good newer transmission to hook up to the V8 and will I need an adaptor to mate up the engine and tranny?"

I'm sure there will be other things pop up that I'll need advice with that will come later.

...& if that original Buick engine has been sitting for a while, you need to check the cylinder holes for pitting...they're notorious for doing that, especially if the oil in the engine has "soured" & nobody did any maintenance on it.
 
Thanks for the headsup Tony. I'll make sure to check everything out carefully. I figure for $250 I couldn't go wrong. The guy I'm buying this from paid $800 a few years back.

If there is any pitting, can it be fixed? or is the engine shot?

Resleeve it

I know where are 6 still in the cars, still attached to the transmissions, still have oil - or what's left of it (vinegar) in them...they're not worth pulling!

I've got 2 stripped blocks in my engine room...that's the only thing that saved them - they were stripped.
