MG Tub pictures

It finally got warm enough here (24f) that I could get out in the garage and clean up the MG tub. I've got some pictures up here:

https://www.drooartz.com/index.php?page=37

I'll be meeting the PO in a couple of weeks to get the remaining parts and the title. I don't know what other parts there are, or even if the VIN on the title matches the car.

It really cleaned up pretty well. I didn't see any show stoppers anywhere. Some light rust in a couple places, but a little sanding and a repaint would probably cure that. The paint looks good from about 20' but any closer and you can see the issues.

Errr, WOW!
Don't think you'll have any trouble selling it Drew.
~Sigh~

Nice pics, Do you have any from the bottom side? I have some vacation time coming how far is it to Utah?

That tub's nice enough to build - were it closer, I know a couple of guys here who would want it.

I've added some pictures of the underside now to my pictures page -- there's a second page now to the pictures index with a few shots of the floors and rear.

It's a solid tub, good for someone who has a rotting Spridget with good running gear.

It is very hard to tell from pictures, but it looks pretty solid. The floors might need a little work, but not much. Have you detected any fiberglass repairs that seem shoddy (like Bondo smeared over wire screen)?

The only strange thing I could see were a couple of nuts that looked "gooped" in place somehow in the foot wells (I noted them in the pictures). I'm certainly not a body expert by any means.

There is some sort of matting or insulation on the top of the floors in the foot wells, and on the transmission tunnel. The floors feel solid, but without stripping the paint and insulation away it's hard to tell.

The only repair I could see (and again, I'm an amateur) was the left rear 1/4 panel. There is a seam on the inside, noticeable from inside the trunk. Can't find it from the outside. That looks well repaired, though I can't tell how much of the fender was replaced. There is no seam on the right rear panel.

I'm happy to take any other pictures if folks are interested, or even if you think it would be helpful for a prospective buyer. I want folks to know what they are getting.

That is gorgeous! What did you part it out? That body is in such great shape. If you only got it for the 1275 I wish I'd known. I have 2 and wish I had a RWA.

I bet a tub can be shipped cheeply.

Living in Utah, there just aren't many options for local parts cars (we're a long ways from pretty much anywhere, too expensive to ship for just a parts car). This one came up and was at a reasonable cost. I wound up taking engine, transmission, brakes, axles, and a few other bits. The car was not complete anyways, so I didn't feel too bad about stripping it the rest of the way.

It will make a good start for someone with a rusty running parts car. That way, everybody wins.

my situ but utah is a hike

It could go truck freight on a pallet or a frw $$$'s...however, its the most expensive tarriffed item - auto body parts.

Drew,

I think this is quite a bit better than mine, so I may be interested. The one thing that I haven't been able to get my head around is the hole that looks like something tore through. I just can't figure out which part of the car I am looking at. It is the top right picture on the second page of the index.

Thanks,
Steve

PS: I read "The Wall Tent Saga". It would have been great to go the whole nine yards, but even the abridged version sounds like a great adventure.

Is that not the mount hole for the muffler bracket?

Boy, you'd never make any money as a stripper Drew...You don't take enough off hehehe!!

He plays in the band remember. The stripers are on the stage. hehe

Steve - That picture is showing the underside of the left (driver's) floor, towards the back of the car. This picture:

https://www.drooartz.com/documents/sagas/74_mg_tub/pages/page_8.html

shows the same floor from the top. That hole is right next to the rear-most pressed rib. Might have been a seat mounting point. There's a button on the page that will launch a large size version of the image, should make it more clear.

If you need any other pictures of this spot, I'd be happy to snap a few more.

The Wall Tent experience was quite something, for sure. Friends and family all thought I had gone off the deep end for sure. Glad you enjoyed reading it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Actually, Jack, the strippers were on the bar... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
