T-Series MG TD Fuel pump - how to identify?

We have a '53 MG TD in the garage mahal at the moment. The diaphram is ruptured in the SU fuel pump and pouring fuel. When looking at the Moss catalog, it shows 3 diaphrams. One is for a 2 15/16 shaft (ours is 2 1/2), one is for original type pumps (built before 1985) and one is for replacement type pumps (built after 1985). How do I know if my pump is original or replacement? It looks original. The body has the # 4080 stamped on it if that helps.

Terry - The really tragic part of what you are asking is that I resore the fuel pumps and I can't figure out what Moss is selling in the way of diaphragms. Counting the ones with the 2 15/16" rod, there are 4 distinctly different diaphragms to cover the range of fuel pumps used on MGs. Looking at what Moss offers, I wouldn't order one from them, because I wouldn't know what I was getting. There are two people that I know of here in the US who make their own diaphragms, either of who would probably sell you the correct diaphragms. They are Tom Ball at: 330-666-2642 (no e-mail) and Lawrie Rhoads at: Elawrene@verizon.net Tell them that what kind of a fuel pump you are working on (for the TD it should be a low pressure pump and the armature on the diaphragm is flat - no ridge on it at all) and they should be able to supply you with an diaphragm.
Cheers,

Thank you for the info. My fuel pump does have a flat diaphragm so it does appear to be the correct low pressure pump that should have come on the TD.

Thanks again,
