Was pleased to see my friend (and neighbor) win the Best in Class with his 1939 MG-TB (today, July 16th). He's owned the car since 1975 and finally got around to restoring it about 2 years ago... finishing it only a few weeks ago. It's one of 379 made, and served as a police car for the Kent Constabulary during the war (thus the black appearance). It has an amusing police bell on the front that rings much louder than the horn.

The awards were presented by Keith Martin and Don Osborne.

Dang... header should read "Forest Grove" (not Grover - must have had Sesame Street on my mind). Could a mediator edit that?

The car's build date was September 1, 1939 - the day Hitler invaded Poland, and WWII began. Of course, production ceased, and didn't resume until after the war with the MG-TC.

I fixed the title for you - Drew

[thanks Drew]

September 1, 1939. Wow - what a production date for a British car.

Thanks for posting this. (Can't say I'm impressed with Don Osborne at the mic ...)

Frankly, both Martin and Osborne went on a bit too long. :wink-new: I think many of the winner's cars were overheating while the talk went on and on. But, hey, it's what they do as honorary emcees. Osborne has written a fair bit, and of course Martin produces the Sports Car Market magazine.

I see Keith from time to time because he's based here in Portland. Fun to chat with. Very knowledgeable.
We've run into each other on occasion at a local wine shop. Here he is with my Bugeye.

Never heard of Osborne -
but he's probably not heard of me either.
Who is he?

Donald Osborne is a fairly prominent writer about cars and appears all over the place as a judge (including on the TV show "What's My Car Worth?").
