T-Series Mg t series question

I took my MG TD out of 2 year storage and found a bunch of issues that come with long storage. The battery did charge up and the engine was spinning but would not start due to lack of fuel. . The fuel pump was not working and there was no spark at the points on the pump when i checked although there was current to the fuel pump. I took the easy way out filled the float bowls with gas and it fired right up and ran well.( the car will run till the fuel in the float bowls run out ) My question is even after starting i cannot put it any gear as it crashes when i try to put it in gear. tried to start it while in gear ( with the clutch pressed in ) and the car moves forward as if the clutch is engaged. Is there a possible quick solution or way to trouble shoot this issue ? This was a running car driven in to storage but i am not sure if i left the car in gear and the cluth driven plate is still sticking to the pressure plate. If not is there a clutch adjustment that can be done to get more pedal which may solve my problem .Also on the fuel pump if i file the points is there a possibility that the fuel pump will start working again or could it be the diaphram has dried out ? I trid to seperate the points with a small screw driver to give it a start but it did not work. If it comes to the worst can I install an aftermarket non SU fuel pump just to get by till I get another SU fuel pump or some points for the one in the car ? what kind of after market pump will work with the SU's that I have on the car ? Thanks for any advise on this matter.

emgee - The most likely reason your fuel pump is not working because the points have filmed over and are not conducting. SU fuel pumps don't like to sit idle for long periods of time. E-mail me at SUfuelpumps@donobi.net and I'll send you a procedure that will get the points cleaned up properly. If that doesn't get the pump going, then it will need a complete restoration to get it back in working order.

As for the stuck clutch, the best way to free that up is to get the car pointed out of the garage with some free space to run the car in without having to worry about traffic. Start the car and get it well warmed up, thenshut the engine off, shift into first gear and start the car, drive it around in a circle and with the clutch pedal depressed, alternatively floor the car, then stomp on the brakes, Keep this up until the clutch disk breaks loose from the flywheel. Alternatively, set the rear axle on jack stands and do the alternate flooring the throttle and jamming the brake on - not as effective as the first procedure, but if you are cramped for space, it will work.
Cheers,
