MG Super what?

Greetings! Although I personally have a TR7, I have a quick and hopefully easy MG question.

I was out talking to someone today about British cars today, blah blah blah. They mentioned that his sister's girlfriend's ex husband has an MG sitting in a garage that she'd sell.

Here's the question: he said it was an MG Super something, but I didn't catch the something. Can anyone give me hints as to what it could be? Is it worth going to take a look at?

Thanks!

It would be cool if it was one of those prewar ones with the supercharger out front. I think the intake being the octagon is the coolest thing going.

A supercharged K3 is worth about a zillion bucks.

Ya know, over the years, I have noticed that there is a popular conception that if it's a small British car, it is undoubtedly an MG.
You may want to go look at the thing, becaus an "MG Super Something" may well turn out to be Lotus Super 7.
I bought my first E-Type from someone that thought it was an MG, and it was just taking up space in her barn.

Wow, I go play with my car for a few hours and look at all these responses!

Thanks for the insight. I think I'll just go take a look at it and see what it really is. I'll be sure to pack my camera.

I wouldn't mind if it was the zillion bucks car. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif The comment about being a Lotus Super 7 is very valid, too. I agree that there are still people that think anything British is an MG.

Thanks everyone!

Bugeye, I saw a really nice TR6 in Michigan with the license plate : NOT AN MG You're right it could be anything.

It's a Midget! Dunno why he said "Super" something...

Anyway, just fillin' ya in! I don't know anything about Midgets, so I'll start another thread with a few questions probably.

Thanks,

Hegg

I bought my '76 Midget from a guy who insisted that it was and MGB Midget, and trying to narrow things down by describing the differences between an MGB and a Midget was futile, because of the familial styling cues shared between the two (taillights, grilles, etc.).

I wonder if the Midget you saw was one of the "Specials" like the one I owned. They were dealer applied option kits (luggage rack, radio, wheel trims, etc.) that included a pair of neato stripes down the sides with the word "Special" on it. I can see that being confused with "Super".
