MG Midget decoding

Hello Everyone,
I have a 1970 MG Midget; I believe it to be a Mk IV (GAN5UA81---G) however I could use some help with decoding what I have. I have a couple repair manuals (Chiltons and AutoPress LTD) and neither have any decoding information. Are there any publications that will help educate me on the specifics of my Midget? I was told both 70-71 MG Midgets are a negative ground system and the wiring harness only interchanges with 70-71 only, is this correct?

Thank you,

Chas

A quick look seems to indicate:

G= MG
A= A series engine (also used on 1500)
N= 2 seater
5= Midget MkIII
#####= vehicle number
G= Abingdon assembly plant

you can confirm by entering it here:

Moss motors seems to have a number of GAN5 choices. welcome and keep us posted

Advance wiring seems to have choices as well > ADVANCE AUTO WIRE <
