I received this information!
"To fellow Heartland MG Regional enthusiasts,
I will try to make this short and to the point. I am acting as an interim chairman for the 2011 Heartland MG Regional car show. Our 22nd show is set to take place once again in June at the Santa Fe Commons Park in Overland Park, KS. The ultimate goal of the show as always is for charity and our efforts in the past 4 years have raised over $5000 for the charities chosen on a yearly basis with over $1500 to Harvesters in 2010.
The problem is this: We simply do not have enough people to make the show happen. We have lost several key committee members through age, attrition, and burnout. Most of our remaining committee members have been involved directly with the Heartland for, in some cases, over 15 years and all of us have been annually involved for at least 5 years. Our efforts and requests to recruit new volunteers from the various clubs around town have failed—there just seems to be no interest from anyone willing to step up to the plate. It takes a lot of coordination, planning, and time to make a show like this successful and those of us involved are proud of what we’ve done over the years. We get a lot of nice compliments from attendees and all attendees seem to really enjoy the show. All of this will end unless we get a number of willing new volunteers to become part of the team and donate their time and expertise to help run the show.
Our committee meetings this year are unlike years past. A lack of some key committee position volunteers for the 2011 show and more importantly, a lack of someone willing to step forward and lead the show into 2012 has us talking seriously about making the 2011 show the last one. The decision to terminate the Heartland MG Regional car show after 2011 will be determined at the November 2nd planning meeting.
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED TO MAKE SURE THIS SHOW CONTINUES. IT'S FUN, SATISFYING, AND EXCITING--GIVE IT A TRY!!
We’re asking one last time for volunteers. Your efforts will help make this show last for years to come. Contact me at the information below if you would like to attend this very important meeting and help out not only the Heartland MG Regional committee but all Kansas City British Car enthusiasts.
