mg guy moving up

That odd little bracket I think is the piece screwed to the back of the wood trim that is supposed to be UNDER the parcel shelf. Defogger....cannot recall that on a standard MK2, but maybe a 240/340. Wipers? What are you talking about? Find your choke cabling issue?

this little button

do i have rear window defroster??
or is a steal plate like Bond's DB5?

cheery
steve

Somewhere I read about factory or dealer options for that....never seen one. Not a heated glass, if I recall, rather a fan in the back that blew across the glass (inside).
I did a little checking, supposed to be a very rare accessory.

ahh that would explain the empty hole in the rear deck oh well

is there any trick to open the trunk? i cant seem to get it open
ive tryed both keys

steve

Will any of the keys turn the lock? If old and worn, sometimes you have to "jiggle" the key. Open is with the key teeth pointing up...if the key fits with teeth pointing up, it's unlocked. Push the button. Try holding down the license cover while doing it.

ok got it
yippy no rust! but no spare tire either toast
hmm only one tray table in the back looks like the passenger seat is a leather one from a earlyer car thats been ...painted? to match oh well i guess i should leather the whole interior in a few years

whats the rubber button by the drives left foot??
Im waiting for my hanes manual to show up
steve

Rubber button is headlamp hi/lo switch. Got a factory toolkit? Fuel pump behind cardboard cover left side of boot. 240/340 weren't leather.....cheapened them up and used Ambla (vinyl/naugahyde).
Jack and crank snapped in the steel forward bulkhead of boot?
You have a spare wheel but tyre is toast?

no tool kit
ill look again for the jack
no rim no tire

found the fuel pump the rubber cap is off ?
the high beams arnt working
I think i have found everything
the key thing is to have a list of what i need to order in febuary so the parts all get here before the car comes out of storage

steve

Maybe the switch, but to confirm, place nose of vehicle near a wall, and pull the directional lever towards to. Flash-to-pass is high beams...should also light the blue indicator in the speedometer.
Rubber cap? My SU pump has a plastic cover on one end, no rubber cap (but, then, who knows after 47 years if it's original). Toolkit lays in top of spare tyre.....VERY expensive to replace...better off with a small toolbox inside the boot. Wheel and tyre should be no problem to find....even if you have to get one out of Jolly Olde.

There are clips in the front vertical bulkhead of the boot, and under the parcel shelf for jack and crank. The rear window defogger should have been a motor inside the boot blowing through a vent plate in the parcel shelf, if research is correct.

Tip:
Go through the front wheel bearings. Usually, folks just stick a grease gun up to the zerk fitting on the hub, and that just doesn't do the job long-term. I had to almost chisel the dinosaurs out of mine. COUNT THE SHIMS betwixt the caliper bracket, spindle, and steering arm. There are grease zerks on rear axle, one per side, to grease rear wheel bearings. Do NOT over grease or you'll fill your emergency brakes. First time (and you'll know if you have to chisel the garbage off the zerks) 10 pumps, 5 after that should be fine.

Have fun!

toast no tools no jack oh well the money burn will start in the spring

could I get electirc rear screen heater.. or mabe i should just get anouther lable an route the swicth to something else

yes this thing has a lot of grease point even in the doors
steve

Yes, and if like mine, remove the zerks and clean them thoroughly, down to a fine wire wheel on the outside....you'll find they probably work when done!
How did this car ship to you?

oh it was flatbeded up from oslo.
the car was imported to trondheim from england about six years ago

the running joke is this is my winter car, I walk to work so it will be in the basement of a local work shop. maybe i should think about renting it out next summer,
