Car Talk's Tom & Ray making Chicken Burrito à la MG with Chef Ming Tsai from PBS's "Simply Ming". Looks like their advice to the mom with the hungry kid wasn't all bad.

Manifold Destiny: The One! The Only! Guide to Cooking on Your Car Engine!

I've been sorely tempted to add a hotplate to my Studebaker. There's enough room in there to do a roast with potatoes and veggies.

Many years ago, my dad was a crane operator. His helper watched my dad put a can of food on the engines manifold to heat it up. What his helper didn't notice was my dad punched a hole in the top of the can. The helper decided he was going to do the same thing and put a can of baked beans on the manifold a little later. Dad was operating the crane when he heard a loud explosion, got up and went in the back and discovered beans everywhere, ever see how far a can of beans can cover? That rig smelled like baked beans for the next 6 months, even after dad made him clean the mess up and wash the roof and walls. We laughed about that for years. PJ

I was at Lime Rock years ago for an SCCA event (I was crewing).

I was hanging out with my friend Dale, who always heated our food on the manifold of his tow vehicle.
We were paddocked pretty close to Newman's Nissan; Joanne Woodward came over and asked what the heck we were doing? She was greatly amused.

My copy is dog-eared.
