Morning, I'm usually found in the midgets forum, so please excuse my sidestep.

I (and a friend) are thinking of 'constructing' an MGC (Sebring replica,) without the weight and handling problems. Primary concern is the engine, an MG straight 6 is somewhat rare I understand so my question is what engine (and tranny) can fit snuggly into a B and provide the kind of HP, 120, 130+ that is of the period, lighter and relatively easy to aquire.

There's something overpoweringly desireable about 6 cylinders in a B and it won't go away! My partner in this has two Bs that go like stink. In all honesty, aside from cash limitations, we are looking for a lot more.....!

I knew a straight 6 would be tough, so too will a rear axle and I don't want to push the engineering envelope with an 8. I think you're right on a V6, plenty of them in the yards, the hard part will be the compression ratio if I find a good donor.
Guess it won't be a C then, It'll be a V6 BGT in Monte Carlo Rally colors. That'll do nicely.

The only handling problems C's had back "in the day" was due to the tires available...with today's tires, there are no handling problems!

The B engine will achieve what you're looking for - easily...& the C wouldn't fit in a B anyway...at least not with the B suspension beam in place.
