MG and Morris 10 engines, any swapping bits ?

G'Day Bloke's,
On the weekend I went to a local farm to retrieve some series 2 Morris Minor parts off a wreck I know of for a friend, and while I was there I spotted a late 40s Morris 10 squashed up and dumped in a gully. It is completly ruined but the engine and some smaller parts (like the semaphore trafficators, I grabbed those) are still on it. The farmer will lift it out of the hole with his loader if I want it but I arn't shure if it is worth the effort. I don't know anyone with a Morris 10 so if its parts only fit 10s I doubt I would find anyone who needs it but I know the same series of engine was used in the MG TC, Y ect although in a smaller capacity for the 10. There are a lot more 40s MGs than Morris 10s over here so if anything fits, the MG brigade may be able to use them. Does anbody know if any of the parts in the 10 engine are at all useful to the 40s MGs ?I arn't shure if "anything" fits, but if the crank, rods ect are the same I may grab it in the hope sombody will get some benefit out of it.I have asked this question on a couple of other sites but so far no response.
Thanks Blokes,
Graham

If it has the original 4 speed transmission my understanding is it can be used in a TC with the TC rear plate and a modified TC remote. Might be worth saving.

Thanks Mike,
I didn't check out the transmission, its still in the car but I arn't shure how many gears, I suspect 4 but I think its what ever they came with. Do you know if any of the actual "parts" interchange or is it just an option if you don't have any engine at all and it would fill up the engine bay and "look" correct.

That I don't know, I've never compared the guts side by side. My guess would be there's probably some common bits since the T series mechanicals are a development of the Morris but don't take that as gospel.

Thanks again Mike,
I think I WILL grab it, it seems a shame for it to get buried and lost forever when somone may get some benefit out of it. I think I will still try and find out if the engine or aparently the gearbox are of any use to an MG but if not it can join my ever expanding "spare parts that I have no use for" pile in the hope it will be recycled sometime.

I know here in the US Abingdon Spares has on offer a Morris box modified to fit a TC and since original TC gearboxes are scarce someone will probably want it. You might try contacting any T series suppliers down there as well, one of them may want it.
