MG 2011 ???

I know it is supposedly 4 years away, but 4 years goes by fairly quick, especially when you get my age. NOW, the question. I thought that there would be a NAMGBR sponsored event every five years. If that's the case, then what is MG2007? Are we going to have an event every year now, at a different place in the country? Is MG2011 going to be something extra special like MG2006 was? I know Rick will chime in on this one and we'll get some straight answers. I'm all for all the events we can get! I'm just curious about the 5 year thing and has it been changed? PJ

every 5th year is the combined meet so it should be a good one and probably will be held somewhere in the midwest.
NAMBGR has an event every year and is in Californis this year and I believe is in Colorado next year

Is there ever an MG200? in the NY area? How can I locate a schedule for all future events?

As I understand, they haven't decided yet where the 2011 event will be. I would think that it would be held in the Midwest somewhere, but who knows? I would also imagine that the NAMGBR would post any future events on it's home page.

OK...

There is indeed a NAMGBR annual convention every year. This year's event is MG2007, held in Sonoma County, California. See https://www.mg2007.org/ for information. It has the makings of a great gathering.

NAMGBR's MG2008 will be held in Valley Forge, PA. The C Register will be joining forces with the Bs for that event. I do not believe there is a website available at this time. Jim Schulte is event coordinator for MG2008.

NAMGBR's MG2009 will be held in Colorado and hosted by the MGCC Rocky Mountain Centre. Robert Gloyd is contact from the local club. Again, no website at this time.

NAMGBR's MG2010 has yet to be "awarded"...I'm sure that the Register Executive officers and Tony Burgess, NAMGBR's Convention Coordinator, would be happy to discuss this with local clubs interested in hosting a convention.

That brings us to MG2011, the next scheduled all-MG Register gathering for North America sponsored by the North American Council of M.G. Registers. It was decided during a MG Council conference call in March that there would indeed be a fourth event to be held in 2011. No location nor host club has been decided at this time, although action has begun to find an interesting and fun locale for MG enthusiasts to convene upon sometime during the summer of 2011. Regions outside of the Midwest are indeed being considered for this event.

So there you have it...hope to see you all out on the road sometime this summer!

Valley Forge sounds doable. That is only about 150 miles from me.

Thanks for the info, Rick. The Sonoma gathering would be so much fun as it is one of the best places on this planet that I have thoughly enjoyed in my life. There is a mom and pop winery on the south side of Russian River Valley that is one of the best memories of my 30 year marriage...a place called Tupolo's where he runs the tasting room in the basement of this old farmhouse and she runs the restaurant in the main part of the house. I heard that they also have a small B&B in the upstairs now. I spent a week in SF, eating at the best places the firm could pay for, but had the best meal of the trip there. That might have something to do with an afternoon of touring the valley's wineries, too...still some of the best wine on earth ;-)

But, there is always Valley Forge next year! Only 75 miles away, too!

Thanks Rick for the information. That clears up the whole thing for me. PJ
